How Surrogate Compensation Works in Hawaii

Compensation is one of the first things women ask about, and it should be. At Hawaii Surrogacy Center, first-time surrogates receive a total package of about $65,000. Experienced surrogates receive more. During pregnancy, you can expect monthly payments of about $6,750 to $8,500.

Here is what that package covers, how the money reaches you, and what to look for when you compare agencies.

What the Package Includes

Your total surrogate compensation in Hawaii is more than a single paycheck. It includes:

We walk through every piece on your intro call, so you know exactly what to expect before you sign anything.

How You Get Paid

Your compensation is held by SeedTrust, an independent escrow company. The intended parents fund the account, and SeedTrust releases each payment to you on schedule. You never have to ask the intended parents for money, and the agency never holds your funds. Our post on surrogate pay and the role of an escrow account explains how escrow works in more detail.

Why We Don't Advertise the Biggest Number

You will see agencies advertise much larger figures. Before you compare, look at what each number includes. Some totals count expenses that are paid on your behalf or apply only to experienced surrogates.

We would rather give you a fair, realistic number and keep every promise behind it. A few questions worth asking any agency:

  • Is this the total package, or base pay only?
  • Which payments are guaranteed, and which depend on circumstances?
  • When does each payment start?
  • Who holds the money, the agency or an independent escrow company?
  • Do I get my own attorney, paid for?

Our free guide, 10 Questions to Ask When Comparing Surrogacy Agencies, covers these and more.

A Benefit, Not the Reason

We ask that every surrogate’s household be financially stable on its own, without depending on surrogate compensation. Compensation should make a real difference for your family, whether that means paying down debt, saving for your kids or building a cushion. It should never be the pressure that pushes you into a pregnancy. You can read more in our post on surrogate requirements in Hawaii.
