If you have ever wondered whether you could carry a baby for another family, the first question is usually a simple one: do I qualify? Below are the surrogate requirements in Hawaii that we use at Hawaii Surrogacy Center, and why each one is there.
Most of these standards come from fertility clinics and medical guidelines. They exist to protect your health first, and the baby’s second.
A prior pregnancy matters because your own history is the best guide to how your body will handle another one. Clinics want to see that you have carried a healthy pregnancy before.
During screening, we review your pregnancy and delivery records with the clinic. If you are unsure whether something in your history counts, mention it on your application and we will talk it through.
Your household should be financially stable without depending on surrogate compensation. For that reason, we do not accept applicants who currently receive government cash assistance or live in government-subsidized housing. Medicaid is fine, for you or your children.
We hold to this because no one should start a surrogacy journey under financial pressure. Compensation should be a benefit of surrogacy, not the reason for it.
If you have a spouse or partner, they will be involved along the way. Hawaii fertility clinics require partner blood work, your partner joins part of the psychological evaluation, and they sign the surrogacy agreement with you. Their support at home matters just as much.
If you have carried for another family before, we would love to hear from you. Experienced surrogates bring a lot to the process, and our compensation reflects it.
If you meet most of these surrogate requirements in Hawaii but aren’t sure about one, apply anyway.
The application starts with a short set of yes or no questions and takes a few minutes. There is no cost and no commitment. If anything needs a closer look, our Recruitment and Intake Manager, Kaci Moore, will go over it with you on your intro call. Kaci has been a surrogate four times, so she knows these questions from both sides.
